Dr. Han Fucai has extensive experience as a senior orthopaedic consultant, dedicating over 16 years to his practice.
Dr. Han possesses a broad skill set encompassing various surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive surgery, joint preservation surgery, and joint replacement surgery for Shoulder, Knee and Hip disorders.
His expertise lies in complex Knee reconstruction, Joint preservation ( cartilage repair and restoration, multi-ligament reconstructions, revision ACL reconstruction (ACL/PCL), complex meniscus tears/meniscus transplant) and replacement procedures, Shoulder and Hip Arthroscopy (minimally invasive surgery) and osteotomy.
He treats complex sports-related injuries including shoulder fracture dislocations, and extensive rotator cuff tears.
Professional Training
Dr Han has been awarded a prestigious Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) Training Scholarship for his orthopaedic training and has also completed two years of sub-specialty overseas fellowship programs to enhance his expertise.
Having torn both of his knee ligaments in his younger days, Dr. Han has a strong interest in the reconstruction and preservation of joints. He first completed an American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)-accredited Orthopaedic Sports Medicine fellowship at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic (London, Ontario, Canada). During this fellowship, Dr Han trained under esteemed surgeons, Professor Robert Litchfield, Alan Getgood and Robert Giffin where he gained valuable surgical techniques in minimally invasive key hole surgeries, shoulder, hip and knee reconstruction and preservation.
Subsequently, he underwent a second world renowned fellowship in Trauma/Fractures & Joint replacement surgeries in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, UK, working with a group of established surgeons such as Professor Steffen Breusch, Jeff Reid and Michael Robinson.
He concluded his subspecialty training in Oslo University Hospital & Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre ( Norway), under the tutelage of Professor Gilbert Moatshe who treats competitive national athletes in the Norwegian Olympic Sports Centre.
Additionally, he was awarded an AOTrauma Fellowship in 2017/2018 for his attachment in NYU Langone Hospitals (Hospital for Joint Diseases and Bellevue Hospital) in New York, USA.
During his fellowship stint, he was heavily involved in the care of high level athletes including American Football, Ice hockey , Skiing and Soccer. Upon his return to Singapore, he has treated and continues to manage numerous competitive athletes with injuries ranging from soccer, rugby, martial arts,( taekwando, mixed martial arts, Kickboxing & Brazilian jiu jitsu) soft ball and floor ball. He is the current chair of medical committee, Singapore Kickboxing Federation, He was also part of the medical Team in several editions of ONE Championship Mixed Martial Arts competition

Prior to establishing his private practice, Dr. Han held the position of Head of the Division of Sports Surgery & Medicine and the Division of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, National University Health System. Serving the public health system, he was consistently recognised for providing excellent patient care, demonstrating his patient-centred approach and dedication to delivering exceptional care.
Furthermore, Dr. Han has gained valuable experience and a network of resources working as a fellow at prestigious institutions such as New York University (NYU) Langone Hospital, Fowler Kennedy Sports Centre, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and Oslo University Hospital. Despite his demanding schedule, Dr. Han actively contributes to the National Transplant Unit Ethics Committee of Singapore since 2022.
Dr. Han firmly believes in a comprehensive approach to orthopaedic treatment, prioritizing individual needs and conditions. He combines advanced surgical techniques with a collaborative team approach, involving physiotherapists and sports trainers, to optimize patient outcomes and facilitate a successful return to sports and daily activities.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Han actively contributes to research and education as a clinical lecturer and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). His expertise is evident through his publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals and book chapters on Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Han also shares his knowledge in the field of Shoulder & Knee surgeries as a speaker and faculty member at various international conferences and courses. He has been appointed the key opinion leader of several sports medicine & surgeries companies such as Arthrex, Conmed and Rejoin.
